Allen Young

Instructor

Allen is an investor and coach at Social Fluency. Allen graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines with a degree in business management. Soon after, he joined the family business that his father started over forty years ago – which is now one of the leading distributors of industrial supplies in the Philippines. Allen worked in all aspects of sales in the company for ten years, eventually working his way to becoming the business development manager.

In 2012, Allen moved to San Francisco to start a next chapter in his life. He was interested in becoming a real estate investor, so he enrolled in several mastermind programs to learn about investing and money lending. However, Allen realized that having social anxiety was preventing him from connecting with real estate agents and distressed homeowners as well as enjoying life in general. He discovered Social Fluency and immediately set his mind to making the most of his experience by taking risks and really putting himself out there socially. The following six weeks were life changing and awakened a passion in him to pay it forward and to help other people overcome barriers to developing successful personal and professional relationships. Allen hopes that his story can serve as an inspiration to others who are struggling with the social aspect of their lives and encourage them to grow in ways they didn’t know were possible. In his free time, Allen enjoys making new connections with people, attending social events, discovering new San Francisco restaurants, and hiking scenic trails such as Lands End.

Kelli Lawless

Kelli Lawless

Instructor

Kelli serves as an instructor for Social Fluency’s Individual and Business courses. Kelli’s teenage journey from painful shyness to social fluency taught her that it often takes assistance to embrace such profound change. It wasn’t until a friend helped Kelli up-root her fears that she was able to act on a deep-seated desire for social connection.

While studying English Literature and Communication Studies at Vanderbilt University, Kelli took her new-found love for all things social and spent her summers teaching leadership skills to teenagers. After graduating, she used her love of communication and people to move rapidly up the ranks in the Entertainment and Technology industries. Working with top-notch companies like CNN, Creative Artist’s Agency, Oxygen Media, Google, Cisco and NetApp, Kelli found ways to innovate, inspire and create through communication and team-work. Often pioneering new programs and partnership outreaches. A strong entrepreneurial spirit enabled Kelli to nurture her own writing and editing business as she moved into full-time writing and traveled the country researching her book on the dating culture in America while writing a popular dating blog. The perfect days were ones where she could use her communication skills to facilitate meaningful transformation for someone else. That desire to help individuals and companies with their own transformative journeys brought her to Social Fluency. Kelli loves hosting dinner parties with friends, taking long hikes with her ridiculously outgoing dog, and traveling to places where she can’t speak the language. She’s become particularly adept with hand gestures as a third language.
